Historical Guide App
Introduction
Historical Guide is a Bubble.io application designed to help users discover local tour guides who provide insights about various historical locations. The app offers features such as Apple and Google login, Google Maps integration, an audio player for location information, and in-app purchases to access premium guides.
How it Works
Historical Guide is a mobile application developed using React Native and JavaScript, which are key technologies in mobile app development. This application is designed to provide users with information about well-known places nearby or within a city in both audio and text formats. It integrates ChatGPT, a crucial aspect of user interaction, allowing users to interact and ask questions related to the places. The app includes features such as real-time location tracking, audio guides, and a freemium model with in-app purchases.

Process & Results
After the initial registration and granting of location access, the app displays guides on Google Maps, a key integration for location accuracy. It differentiates between free and subscription-required guides, a part of the app’s freemium model. Upon selecting a guide, a path towards the location and an audio button are displayed, enhancing the site visit experience. Users can then play the audio, read the transcript, or interact with ChatGPT to ask questions.
Process and Results:
The app is developed ensuring cross-platform compatibility with both Android and iOS platforms. Node.js is used for the backend, generating API services for front-end developers, while MongoDB functions as the database, storing necessary historical information. The development process involved planning, creating wireframes and UI mockups, coding, device testing, simulator testing, and real-world testing. This ensured a clean and intuitive user interface, accurate location tracking, immersive audio guides, and smooth ChatGPT interactions.
User feedback highlighted the app’s user-friendly interface, accurate location tracking, and immersive audio guide experience. The app implemented a freemium model, offering basic features and a limited number of sites for free, while premium features, including unlimited site access and an ad-free experience, were offered through in-app purchases. This approach led to a steady revenue stream. Performance metrics indicated minimal app crashes (less than 1% of sessions), quick load times, and optimized server response times, ensuring a smooth user experience.
