In a world dominated by sedentary lifestyles, the Street Tag app emerges as a groundbreaking solution that incentivizes physical activities and promotes mental health. Users can walk, run, or cycle to collect virtual tags located around their community, local parks, and landmarks. With a seamless integration with the Apple Health app, Street Tag not only encourages outdoor activities but also contributes to creating a holistic health experience for its users.

How it Works

Street Tag transforms everyday physical activities into a rewarding experience. Users can form teams with friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors, and participate in collecting virtual tags by walking, cycling, or running. The app integrates with the Health app, syncing steps count through Apple Health/Watch, and creating a comprehensive health functionality as requested by the community. By scanning virtual tags found in various locations, users can earn rewards and climb up the leaderboard. Additionally, monthly prize draws and tips to climb the leaderboard are available to keep users engaged and motivated.

Process & Results

The development journey of Street Tag involved several crucial steps. It began with project initiation, where the concept and vision of the app were thoroughly understood through meetings with the client. Technology selection was the next step, and the development team chose native mobile app development frameworks for both Android and iOS, Web & APIs development in Node & MySQL, and integrated gamification libraries to achieve the desired user engagement. Design and planning involved creating wireframes and user interface mockups, outlining the app’s architecture, and identifying integration points for GPS tracking and social media sharing. Development and integration involved developing the app’s frontend and backend simultaneously and integrating GPS tracking to map users’ outdoor activities. Gamification elements like rewards, badges, and leaderboards were seamlessly integrated to encourage user participation. Regular updates were shared with the client for feedback on design, functionality, and user experience, ensuring alignment with the client’s vision. Quality assurance involved rigorous testing on various devices and platforms to ensure smooth functionality. Manual testing was employed to identify and rectify bugs and glitches. The app was then deployed on app stores using standard deployment practices. User feedback during the initial release helped identify minor issues that were promptly addressed through updates. Post-launch, the app’s performance and user engagement were monitored using analytics to gain insights into user behavior and preferences, allowing for continuous improvement and optimization.
