How it Works
Upon downloading the app, users create a profile where they input basic information about their skin concerns, current skincare routine, and any known allergies or sensitivities.Users are guided through a series of questions to identify their specific skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive, normal, etc.). This step is crucial in tailoring the recommendations.Once the user’s skin type is determined, the app presents a selection of skincare products suited to their needs.
These recommendations include cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and more.Users can click on each recommended product to view detailed descriptions, ingredients, usage instructions, and user reviews. This helps them make informed decisions about which products to try.
The app offers the option to create a personalized skincare routine by selecting products from the recommendations. Users can set reminders for AM and PM routines.Users can choose to purchase recommended products directly through the app. It can be linked to online stores or partner with skincare brands for seamless shopping.The app allows users to track their skin’s progress over time. They can upload photos and notes about their skin’s condition, helping them observe the effectiveness of the chosen products.
Process & Results
In the development process of our skincare app, we’ve chosen to leverage React Native with JavaScript as the foundation for creating a unified mobile experience across both Android and iOS platforms. The frontend development involves crafting user interfaces that guide users through selecting their skin type, exploring personalized product recommendations, and managing their profiles. On the backend, we’ve harnessed the capabilities of Node.js to establish a robust API infrastructure, enabling seamless communication between the frontend and our MySQL database.
This integration empowers users to create profiles, select their specific skin type, and receive personalized product recommendations tailored to their needs. Through user interactions, they can not only explore detailed product information but also establish and track their skincare routines, ensuring efficient and informed skincare management. Moreover, we’ve incorporated a community element to facilitate engagement, allowing users to connect, exchange tips, and share experiences within the app. As a result, our skincare app aims to offer a tailored, knowledge-driven skincare experience that leads to healthier skin, informed decisions, and a thriving user community.
